Costume making process
The Swap Meet
We needed fabric, and a lot of it! 56 costumes worth! So naturally, I planned a trip to the Swap Meet. Saturday morning at 8:00 am, 46 thirteen year olds and their teacher set out on a journey together. We searched and bargained all morning long at the National City Swap Meet. By noon, every student walked around with multiple bags in their hands, and very eager to come to school on Monday.

The following week, expert seamstress Ms. Naomi visited our classroom. She showed everyone how to take body measurements, pin, and the basics of sewing.
Then students made mock patterns out of paper of their costumes.
Next, students apply their knowledge to the fabric.
With our material cut and pinned, we were ready for the sewing machines!
